This is a fine antique instrument in perfect condition the top is a two piece of spruce fully in tact and shows little signs of ware, clearly a Beronzi copy made in Paris or Mirecourt France, the grain is even all through out and shows no cracks or corner damage appears top be over 100 years old pre-war mid 1800's to pre war 1920's. Excellent craftsmanship for any time period France was the leading maker in mid to high range instruments. Workshop possibly.
All corners in tact belly and back, no major cracks or repairs. Fine rosewood fittings on chin-rest and tailpiece with single Hill fine tuner with string protector.
Bridge is one star AUBERT fine quality decent grain. Pegs are ebony with french tip all in tact.
Back is of a two pice slab of maple cut form a quarter piece very fine grain some damage on varnish but nothing major, the channeling is amazing as is the purfling. The violin chamfer retains most of it's original black varnish which is rare used. by firms such as Collin Mezin and some Vuillaume harkening back to the style of some of the Stradivari's such as the Lady Blunt and Messiah scroll. The neck is gorgeous though fittings don't match.
Varnish overall is antiqued as to be expected. The oil varnish has retained it's beauty as has it's sound. Bergonzi would be proud of this workmanship. The wood selection is incredible from spruce to maple, never seen such a nicely flamed maple neck before on a fine instrument. The tone is warm and booming soundpost is a bit out of place but it works for the instrument. There are black accents of varnish through the corners in the bouts such as French instruments of the time. Overall a great instrument for a serious player; student advancing to conservatory or collector. Fiddle even Mariachi the versatility, playability is incredible. Feel free to ask questions.
Second set of pictures were taken indoors first were in natural sunlight.
