MALPAIS is a tonal and artistic collaboration between Desert Records and Fowl Sounds. The MALPAIS is an overdriven preamp pedal that’s as diverse as the sounds of the desert are. It’s an original circuit inspired by the infamous generator parties of the 90s and the modern scenes that hascontinued. With a powerful eq, tons of available gain and volume, the MALPAIS can add a little bit of grit to your tone, or go full out sludge!

It's personality molds to your guitar and amp like a sonic chameleon. While powered by a mere 9 volts,
the internal circuit is boosted up to 30V to give this pedal its amp-like sounds and powerful EQ.

Did we mention it was loud? Unity sits around 9:30 on the volume control and has enough output to cause any preamp to question its place in the world. So, grab a MALPAIS and turn on, plug in
and drop out.

LOW - This control shares a passive and active topology. When
turned fully CCW there is still a small amount of low-end present. Turn
CW to increase the bass.
MID - Active control with 20dB cut or boost. Noon is a flat mid
response. CCW is cut and CW is boost. There is enough gain at the end
of the boost spectrum to cause more breakup and mid heavy
overdrive.
HIGH - Passive boost/cut. Noon is a flat response. CCW is cut and
CW is boost.
GAIN - Plenty on tap. Go from classic edge of breakup to molten
overdrive.
VOLUME - This is a preamp pedal and gets quite loud. Well over 20dB

POWER - Works with 2.1mm Boss styled standard 9 to 18 volt power jacks. Pedal draws about 51 mA.

Limited Edition 2025 - Only 15 pedals
