For sale is my 1979 Big Box tone knob ProCo Rat. This is the Version 1-B with the early fluted chrome-top knobs. This early second version is exceedingly rare. According to the informative JHS Rat History blog these were likely only produced for a few months in mid-1979. 

This pedal is in excellent electrical and functional condition with no mods to the board or chassis. At some point early in its life, the volume pot and the battery clip were replaced; all other components are original and in excellent condition.  This unit has the much-prized tantalum capacitors, the essential National LM-308N opamp chip, and all other original components. The two original pot codes are 19-7903 and 19-7915 which dates the pedal to early-mid 1979; all pots (and the original footswitch) function smoothly with no dropouts or scratchiness. 

This particular example has the rare repurposed Systech 4001 flanger series serial number sticker. These stickers were were left behind when previous building mate Systech went out of business;  Proco then used them for a short time until they had their own serial number stickers made.

Overall the pedal is in very good condition. This example has some scratches and scrapes (please see photos) but is in very good shape considering its nearly 50 year (!) lifespan.

As mentioned before, this V1-B variant is exceedingly rare. It functions perfectly and sounds amazing! The range on the distortion control is quite wide and can even get into subtle overdrive territory while tightening up your sound at low settings.
