The Gladius is a JFET preamp based on the original active Wal bass type E preamp. Utilizing an ultra low noise U406 JFET, the Gladius boosts your signal with a clear and powerful tone. With all the low noise gain on tap, you can boost your signal to the point of breakup without all the hum.
The pick attack switch in the original preamp has been replaced with a knob to dial in the exact amount of EQ. This feature boosts frequencies broadly between 2 - 5 kHz up to about 10 dB, giving extra presence and bite.
The pedal requires a DC supply (not included). The supply must be at least 9V, but no greater than 24V. The current draw is 4mA. A higher voltage supply will give more clean headroom. The connector must be a boss style, 2.1mm barrel, center negative polarity. A 24 volt power supply may be purchased separately.
Gladius has a true bypass switch.
