1984 Quest Manhattan MKII Blueburst Offset Matsumoku Japan RARE Model

Wow! Incredible find. Uncommon model especially with this Blueburst finish. Gotoh passive pickups, gold hardware. Undeniably cool, unique offset body with a nod to the RIC style.

All electronics work as intended. Guitar was just disassembled and cleaned and a new set of D’addario 10 gauge strings was just installed. Knobs, gold strap locks and gold pickup surround screws are not original but fit well with this aesthetic.

Truss rod works as intended. Neck is straight and frets have been lightly polished. Frets do have some indentations and may have had some work on them in the past. Rosewood fretboard does have a few light indentations. Guitar plays really well and the Blueburst finish is captivating!

This guitar is In players condition as there are plenty of dings, dents, scratches, and marks all over the guitar. These marks are cosmetic only and do not detract from its playability. Last picture shows closeup of the dings and dimples on part of the guitar. These marks are pretty consistent all over. The biggest visual mark appears to be the gouge on headstock face at the end of “Manhattan“.

The Quest Manhattan Mk II, a highly-regarded, Matsumoku-crafted Japanese guitar from 1984. The mini-toggle switches work in tandem with the standard pickup selector to control coil splitting for the humbucker pickups.

Coil-Split Toggles (Micro-switches): Many Mk II models feature dual 3-way micro-switches. In one position, the humbucker runs as a standard dual-coil; in another, it splits the coils to operate as a single-coil pickup, providing a brighter, twangier tone.
