The ReVox B77 MkII is the refined successor to an already exceptional machine, and this 4-track example has just come out of a thorough professional service with documentation. It is fully operational in all respects and ready for immediate use.

This Unit

Professionally evaluated and confirmed fully operational in all aspects. Unit had seen very little use prior to acquisition; heads show minimal wear and are estimated conservatively at well above 80% remaining life. Cosmetically very good overall — the rear panel shows typical light handling marks consistent with age, as documented in photos, but the front panel and transport present cleanly. Multivoltage design, currently set for US current (120V). Includes power cable. Spindles will be detached and packed separately for shipment protection.

The roller bearing upgrade to the tape guides is a meaningful improvement over the original static guides — reduced friction means more consistent tape tension and gentler tape handling, particularly relevant for anyone working with older or more delicate tape stock.

About the B77 MkII

The MkII builds on the original B77's already formidable foundation — aluminum die-cast chassis, Studer-manufactured Revodur alloy heads, three-motor transport with electronically servo-controlled direct-drive capstan, logic-controlled transport, and three-head configuration enabling true source/tape monitoring — and adds the feature most frequently requested by users of the original: built-in vari-speed control. The MkII's internal vari-speed provides ±2 semitones of pitch/speed adjustment without any external accessory, making it immediately useful for musicians tuning to recordings, archivists working with off-speed material, or anyone who wants that capability without additional outboard gear. The vari-speed on/off toggle and trim knob are visible on the transport panel of this unit.

The 4-track configuration records and plays back in the standard quarter-track stereo format, maximizing tape efficiency and ensuring compatibility with the vast library of prerecorded quarter-track tapes as well as consumer recordings made on any 4-track stereo deck.
