Here we have one of the most impressive jazz guitars ever! The Gibson Johnny Smith with 17″ body made of beautifully flamed maple and floating humbucker pickups.
The carved spruce top is slightly thicker than that of the L-5 which gives more control when playing on the amplifier. The neck made of flamed maple lies extremely well in the hand and shows practically no rough playing marks. Including the original Lifton case.
The original celluloid pickguard has started to disintegrate. Following this, we commissioned Nick Bachman of “1929 Pickguards” to create a replica. Nick specializes in making pickguards for vintage guitars from authentic materials. The new pickguard is also made of celluloid like the original and has a multi-layer binding. The old pickguard is of course included with the guitar.
