Orca 59 – people often say that this model from the prestigious Nik Huber workshop is a “better” Les Paul. Although we don’t usually think much of such grandiose slogans, we couldn’t help but nod in agreement when it came to this Orca 59. What an absolute dream guitar! Visually, one highlight follows another: the strikingly grained “Flame Maple” top is a true feast for the eyes, especially when paired with the attractive semi-gloss finish in “Faded Sunburst.” The matte mahogany of the neck and body further enhances this top-notch look. But it’s not just a visual home run: the “Custom 59” pickups from Häussel give this resonant gem a voluminous and warm tone that sounds incredibly transparent and three-dimensional through an amp. A whole new world of sound opens up here and it’s incredibly fun to experiment with different playing dynamics, as the guitar picks up on even the slightest nuance. Thanks to the flawless playability typical of Nik Huber,this is also an incredible instrument to play. The neck with its “Std. Orca” profile fits fantastically in the hand and thanks to the “Super - Hollow Carve” (chambering) upgrade option the guitar also impresses with its dreamlike weight of only 3140 grams without losing any tonal substance.
