i'm selling my fender musicmaster bass from 1972 in Dacota red. bought it second hand. the bass needed some work to come to life again so i've done the following:
- installed new frets (excellent playability)
- installed new pickguard (wd cream pearl), the old one had srunk and was broken.
- replaced the pickup with an amazing Aero musicmaster single coil pickup (it was not an easy find...) but the original strat/duo sonic guitar pickup is included
- replaced all pots, caps, wiring and output jack
- sealed the control and pickup cavity with copper tape to reduce the 60 cycle hum noise of the single coil pickup
- replaced the original bridge with a high quality Hipshot vintage style bridge with the correct string spacing that most people overlook when changing bridges for this bass
- instaled a Fender thumprest (at the bass side, as the original spot was at treble side which i don't use)
- bought a Fender shortscale bass soft bag for perfect fit and transport
- instaled LaBella flatwound strings
the bass is in player's condition. the nitro finish of the body is full of "cracking" or "checking", the nitro gloss has faded and of course there are all the normal scratches and wear and tear of a well played vintage bass. it looks gorgeous if you like relicked finishes.the neck is straight with low action and can be adjusted in every direction. playability is awesome after the new fret job considering the condition this bass came to me.
the maple neck has also the expected wear, as the finish is worn from playing and has discolouration from dirt, oils etc plus all the usual scratches from playing and years of use. the bass has a beautiful vintage sound because of it's shortscale design, pickup choice and use of flatwound strings. is absolutely stage and studio ready and need no modification or repair of any kind. Plug and play!!!
Buy if you want a vintage shortscale bass in player's condition with beautiful vintage relicing and playwear and vintage voice with strong Fender DNA. i'm selling it because it's not used frequently at my gigs.
