Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition '55 Bone Tone Strat Relic — Wide-Fade 2-Color Sunburst — Gold Hardware1955 was the second year of Stratocaster production — Leo Fender had barely finished refining the design, and the instruments coming out of Fullerton that year represent one of the purest expressions of what the Strat was always meant to be: lightweight ash body, one-piece maple neck, simple controls, and single-coil pickups with plenty of headroom. This Limited Edition Custom Shop build takes that moment as its blueprint.The centrepiece is the pickup design. The "Bone Tone" name refers to the winding spec: fewer turns of heavy formvar wire than a standard Custom Shop single-coil, paired with beveled Alnico 2 magnets and '54-style covers. The result is a pickup with exceptional clarity and headroom — glassy and touch-sensitive clean, and responsive to dynamics in a way that more aggressively wound pickups simply aren't. The wiring adds a "1/2 Blender" configuration, allowing the neck pickup to be dialled in on positions 1 and 2 for a broader tonal palette than traditional Strat wiring provides.The two-piece select ash body and one-piece 2A flame maple neck — neck and fingerboard cut from the same piece — are period-correct choices that reinforce the tonal picture: bright, clear, and resonant, with natural warmth from the ash grain. The soft V neck profile, compound radius fingerboard, and 21 narrow tall frets give it the feel of a guitar from that era without the playability compromises of a true vintage instrument. Gold hardware and the gold anodized aluminium pickguard were Custom Shop appointments that elevate the visual specification beyond a standard relic build.The guitar is new and unplayed, in the condition it left the Custom Shop.
