Video: The New Danelectro '59XT Guitar Demo

Earlier this year at January's NAMM show, Danelectro unveiled a brand-new guitar—the Danelectro '59XT—to join its lineup. It's an upgrade to the company's older Jimmy Page model, with a semi-hollowbody made of Masonite to keep costs low. Even with some cool new features, the guitar retails at just $499 USD.

The '59XT sports a double-cutaway design in your choice of classic Danelectro colors—Silver, Dark Burgundy, Black, or Dark Aqua. Though most of the guitars in Danelectro's lineup are outfitted with single-coils, the '59XT takes it up a notch by adding a Lipstick Humbucker in the bridge position, along with a high-output P90 at the neck.

Control-wise, the guitar keeps it simple yet versatile, with a three-way pickup selector switch stacked above tone and volume control knobs. The push-pull tone knob allows you to split the bridge pickup, which, as Andy demonstrates above, can be used in combination with the neck pickup for some great, jangly tones. The Wilkinson tremolo is another exciting addition to have on this budget-friendly instrument.
