Probably one of the most attractive guitar designs, with an aesthetic that breaks the mould. As well as being original in its design, this superb rarity in its Fireburst finish with a Floyd Rose bridge is in very good condition: no broken headstock or cracks in the neck, no repairs, no modifications, but two small ‘dents’ on the headstock above the ‘Gibson’ lettering. It is 100% original, manufactured in May 1997. The frets are almost 100% intact.
The Nighthawk is a rare guitar, well known to Gibson experts who recognise its extreme versatility. It features three pickups and a push-pull tone control (revolutionary at the time!) which offers 10 tone combinations, allowing you to explore Gibson-style sounds such as the Les Paul, as well as those of the Fender Stratocaster and Telecaster.
Mahogany body, maple top, 25.5 scale length (same as Fender’s)
Rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets
Pearl inlays
Binding around the body
1 Special M-Series mini HB neck pickup (Bill Lawrence)
1 NSX 1 single-coil pickup
Special M-Series angled HB bridge pickup (Bill Lawrence)
5-position pickup selector switch
1 master volume control, 1 master tone control with push-pull.
Gibson bridge under licence from Floyd Rose.
Gold-plated hardware, with some slight signs of oxidation on the bridge pickup.
D’Addario EXL110-10P (10-46) strings, with one new set included.
Supplied with its original case, which is also in excellent condition.
This is a RARE guitar in this condition and with this finish. Ideal for a live performer looking for a beautiful, lightweight (3.4 kg) and versatile guitar suitable for all styles, so they don’t have to switch guitars to change their sound. This Nighthawk features the same pickups as the Special or Custom versions; the difference lies in the ebony fingerboard on the Custom (with its ‘crown’ inlays), the parallelogram inlays on the Standard, and a few additional finishing touches on the Custom (flamed top, binding on the neck).
In a nutshell, it’s a versatile lightweight that packs-in the rich, heavy and smooth sound of the Les Paul including Stratocaster and Telecaster type sounds! Plugged into a good amp, it’s a veritable deluge of sounds!
