The Audix CX212B is a multi-pattern large-diaphragm studio condenser microphone built around a 27.5 mm gold vapor dual-diaphragm capsule. It offers selectable cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8 polar patterns, making it well-suited to a wide range of recording applications from vocals and acoustic instruments to room and ensemble capture. The frequency response runs a full 20 Hz-20 kHz, backed by a discrete low-noise FET preamp circuit with an equivalent noise floor of 18-19 dB and a dynamic range of 110-114 dB. A switchable bass roll-off filter attenuates 300 Hz and below at 12 dB/octave to control rumble and proximity effect, while the 10 dB pad extends the maximum SPL handling to 143 dB. The brass body carries a black satin finish with a fine steel mesh grill, and the mic terminates in a gold-plated 3-pin XLR connector requiring 48V phantom power.
