The Technics ST-GT550 is a quartz synthesizer FM/AM stereo tuner offering a wide frequency range — FM from 87.5 to 108.0 MHz and AM from 522 kHz up to 1629 kHz, with longwave coverage down to 144 kHz. It supports AM Stereo and features an Auto IF Selector that automatically switches between normal and super-narrow IF bandwidth depending on signal conditions, helping balance sensitivity and audio quality. A Local/DX switching circuit prevents front-end overload from strong nearby stations. Audio output passes through a Class AA amplifier stage, and FM signal strength is displayed in 2 dB steps for precise aerial alignment. The unit also includes wireless remote control and draws just 9 W in operation.
