I’m selling a guitar you very rarely come across, due to its specs!
This Stratocaster, built by Jason Smith, a prominent Fender Custom Shop Master Builder, features a configuration and look that make it a no-compromise guitar, ready to handle anything, whether in the studio or on stage.
It has a Seymour Duncan Custom Shop ’78 humbucker paired with fully passive electronics offering 5 different tones:
Position 1: Full humbucker
P2: Split humbucker
P3: Full humbucker with rear coil run through a 1uF capacitor — bass boost
P4: Full humbucker with diode clipping circuit — mild overdrive
P5: Full humbucker with diode circuit and rear coil capacitor
The idea is to capture a common practice from the ’80s: modifying your guitar in your garage and turning it into a true tool for your music — one can easily think of Mr. Van Halen here…
I have only played it in my home studio and always handled it with great care, despite its heavy relic look, which will appeal to fans of this kind of finish — myself included, of course.
The rear Paisley backplate was not originally on the guitar. The guitar originally comes without a backplate — yes, it’s more practical for direct access to the tremolo springs. I can either remove it or leave it on, as you prefer.
I’m happy to answer any questions or requests, and I can provide more photos if needed.
