In 1956, Fender introduced two guitars aimed at beginners and more budget-conscious players: the Musicmaster and the Duo-Sonic. In 1964, the Mustang entered the scene, its main difference from the Duo-Sonic being the addition of a vibrato. The maple neck features a rosewood fingerboard with a 7.25" radius. With its two stripes, the Competition finish introduced in 1969 was inspired by the automotive world. This Burgundy (Blue) example has developed a beautiful patina. It is the same model and color used by Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), but… in right-handed form! Everything is original except for the vibrato arm and the nut. It has been refretted by luthier Jean-Baptiste Prodhomme and is sold with a generic case.
