For sale is a very rare early Custom by Cougar Mystic Blues amplifier known as “Ann.”

The basic specifications of this amp were confirmed directly with Tommy Cougar, the builder. According to Tommy, only around 25 Mystic Blues amps were made between 1994 and 2004, making these exceptionally hard to find.

“Ann” is a 50W Mystic Blues with 2x6L6 power tubes, 4x12AX7 preamp tubes, a built-in Catulator buffered loop, and Skyliner EQ. It offers Clean / Overdrive / Boost, and its voice sits in that highly desirable zone where the clean sound has width, depth, and bloom, while the overdrive stays smooth, harmonically rich, and expressive.

What stands out about amps in this family is not just gain or volume, but the way they respond to the player. The clean side can stay big and open, or be pushed into a slightly dirty edge, while the overdrive has a creamy, singing character with a very touch-sensitive feel. It is very much a D-style amp, but with a real Cougar touch of its own.

Tommy also noted that Mystic Blues amps often differed slightly from one example to another, with customer-requested tweaks, much like the original Dumble amps.

This amp is currently wired for 240V operation. Tommy also noted that it can be rewired to 120V if desired.

Used condition with normal signs of age and use. This is a serious boutique amplifier for players and collectors who understand what early Custom by Cougar amps are.
