Radial Engineering X-Amp – Professional Class A Active Reamper
The essential tool for precise, uncompromising reamping
The Radial Engineering X-Amp is an active reamping unit designed for professional studios and demanding sound engineers. A true industry standard, it allows you to route a recorded track as a line signal (+4 dBu) to a guitar or bass amplifier or an effects chain, in order to re-record it under optimal conditions.
Reamping is a technique widely used on guitars, basses, keyboards, percussion, and even vocals, offering total creative freedom after the recording session.
Why use reamping?
With the X-Amp:
First, record your instrument as a “dry” signal
Focus solely on the musical performance
Then feed the signal back into different amps or effects
Adjust the mics, test multiple amplifiers, and optimize the sound capture
Result: total control over the sound after recording, without the constraints of studio timing.
Discrete Class A active circuit
The X-Amp features a discrete Class A active circuit that guarantees:
Faithful reproduction of the original nuances
Exceptional dynamics
A natural response, as if the guitar were plugged directly into the amp
With a dynamic range of 119 dB, a THD of just 0.02%, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 88 dB, it ensures impeccable audio quality.
Dual amp outputs & advanced isolation
The X-Amp accepts a balanced +4 dBu XLR input and provides:
2 unbalanced instrument-level jack outputs
Simultaneous use of two amps
The second output is:
Buffered to prevent signal loss
Transformer-isolated to eliminate ground loops
Equipped with a phase inverter to align the amps
A Ground Lift switch on the XLR input effectively eliminates hum.
Simple and effective controls
Output level knob
Clip LED for quick adjustment
Ground switch
Phase inverter
The workflow is seamless and eliminates constant back-and-forth between the console and the amp.
