Let’s take a bit of a historical look: the J-35 first appeared in Gibson’s catalog in 1935, as the brand’s first dreadnought, predating the iconic “Workhorse” models — the J-45 and J-50. This particular example features a spruce top, with mahogany back, sides, and neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. It’s also equipped with an L.R. Baggs pickup system. A nice detail is the banner-style headstock with the classic slogan “Only a Gibson is good enough” — proof that Gibson already knew a thing or two about marketing back then! This is an ex-demo model with a professionally repaired back crack, sold in its original case.
