This is the 40th Anniversary OD808 overdrive pedal from Maxon, and this model is in collaboration with Catalinbread Pedals. They've added their "ODin808" mod which delivers a "creamy, articulate drive that simply kills with any instrument, through any amp." The knobs on this edition have been swapped out for Catalinbread knobs and some of the values have been adjusted too for the drive and tone.

In the year 1979, Japanese electronics engineer Susumu Tamura unknowingly started a sonic revolution. 

Seeking to create a circuit to compete with the Boss OD-1, he inadvertently developed a pedal that would go on to become the most copied, cloned and modified guitar effect of all time.

That pedal was the Maxon OD808, which was then rebranded for Ibanez as the TS808 Tubescreamer.

Known for its incredible warmth and organic, tube-like quality, the “808” quickly became the go-to amp-pushing pedal for countless guitarists around the globe, including a little-known blues player from Texas named Stevie Ray Vaughan.

2019 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of this iconic overdrive, and to celebrate Maxon is releasing a limited-edition OD808 model in collaboration with Godlyke, Inc.

Using the current-production OD808 as a launch pad, Mr. Tamura provided specific modifications to the pedals’ circuitry that provide a more open, articulate sound with improved dynamic response.

A significant amount of components have been substituted on the ODin808 to create its unique tone – a thick wall of sound with insane amounts of gain and output, yet still sporting the classic 808 purr. 

Extremely amp-like, the ODin808 offers less clean tone blended in with the Drive and a flattened mid-hump, bringing the 808 lineage into distortion territory.

In addition, units 1-40 will be hand-signed by Mr. Kula and feature additional component substitutions including different Drive & Tone pot values, an OPA2134 OpAmp, and Catalinbread knobs!
