Planarmagnetic helmet

Since its launch in 2009, the Audeze LCD series has set the benchmark for planar magnetic driver headphone performance. First with the LCD-2?, then in 2011 with the LCD-3 and then the LCD-4 in 2015. This fifth iteration further improves the drivers, ear cushions and chassis, making it one of the best-performing and most comfortable headphones available.

Transparency, definition and speed

The LCD-5 sets the new standard for fidelity. Its drivers feature Fluxor magnets, updated Fazor waveguides, and new Parallel Uniforce™ voice coils. These use variable-width parallel tracks to maintain low impedance and provide greater voltage headroom by modulating the current density in each track. This optimized force uniformity reduces distortion and improves diaphragm movement control, resulting in increased sonic resolution.

Clarity and Stereo Image

Audeze optimized every aspect of the LCD-5's acoustic chamber to achieve a precise and clean stereo image. The new sculpted earpads and acoustically transparent grille are designed to minimize reflections and resonances, while the Parallel Uniforce™ voice coil allows for increased spacing between the magnets for improved frequency response and a more open soundstage. The LCD-5 also features new low-profile Fazor waveguides, designed to further reduce diffraction and ear interaction.

Elegant and Comfortable Design

Weighing just 420 grams, the LCD-5 delivers hours of listening pleasure. Every component has been redesigned using materials like magnesium, aluminum, and acetate, which combine lightness with high rigidity. When you put on an LCD-5, your head and ears are enveloped in materials of exceptional quality. Premium soft leather and carbon fiber bring it all together in a beautifully crafted package, which Audeze assembles by hand in its California workshop.

Sculpted Pads

The new sculpted earpad architecture with an internal slope reduces unwanted resonances and internal reflections. Their ergonomic design conforms to the shape of the skull and helps naturally position the headphones optimally for listening. Compared to standard designs, these earpads have a reduced contact surface to minimize fatigue while ensuring a perfect seal, regardless of body shape.
