A beautiful 2007 Martin OM-21 Special, combining classic Orchestra Model proportions with elegant vintage-inspired appointments.

Not to be confused with the regular OM-21, the OM-21 Special is a distinct, upgraded model featuring an ebony pyramid bridge, rosewood body binding, fine herringbone detailing and wider bridge string spacing. In my opinion, it represents a significant step up from the standard OM-21 in both tone and overall appeal.

Produced between 2007 and 2011, the discontinued OM-21 Special is an uncommon model appreciated by Martin enthusiasts. According to a post on the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum citing Martin Customer Service, only 794 examples were produced in total. This guitar dates from the model’s first year of production.

A solid Sitka spruce top and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides are complemented by an ebony fingerboard with traditional Style 21 abalone inlays. The warm Vintage Toner finish and Delmar tortoise-style pickguard complete its understated vintage appearance.

The comfortable Low Profile neck, 1¾" nut width and generous string spacing make it particularly inviting for fingerstyle, while the full-length scale and scalloped X-bracing offer versatility for flatpicking and vocal accompaniment.

According to the previous owner, the guitar was used exclusively as a studio instrument during his ownership and had been acquired from a US-based Martin-endorsed artist.

Condition

The guitar has a small ding on the top and another at the rear body binding, as shown in the photos. The fingerboard and frets are in excellent condition.

Includes the pictured hardshell case, which shows signs of wear and is missing one latch.
