A DJ mixer with external effects send/return must clearly combine source selection, cueing, and signal routing. The Vestax PCV-180 is a 3-channel analog DJ mixer with a switchable 3-band isolator ; its three program channels can be individually adjusted, while the crossfader fades between PGM 1 and PGM 2.

For each channel, you can choose between line and phono sources, adjust the input level via trim, and shape the signal with the high, mid, and low isolators. The isolator can be bypassed; the input level indicator helps you recognize clipping. The 60 mm channel faders are replaceable ; as an alternative to the IF-180 faders, you can use 45 mm IF-37PCV faders. The crossfader is also replaceable and is designed for the CF-PCV.

A stereo AUX path is available for external effects. Channels can be assigned individually to the Send; PRE takes the signal before the channel fader, POST after, while OFF deactivates the Send. You can adjust the Send and Return levels separately. The stereo effects path with RCA connectors allows you to connect external effects units to the mixer.

For cueing, you can send channel and effect signals to headphones. In SPLIT mode, the master signal is played on one side and the selected cue signal on the other; in STEREO mode, you hear the cue signal on both sides. The main and secondary microphones connect to two 6.3 mm jack inputs. A master level control and shared treble and bass controls are provided for the microphones.

Connections include five line inputs and three RCA phono inputs, as well as master, submaster, and master 2 outputs. The master and submaster outputs use 6.3 mm jacks; master 2 also carries the master signal via RCA. The separately adjustable submaster is suitable for a second sound system. According to the product description, the high-density plastic case measures 330 x 90 x 406 mm.

The PCV-180 is suitable for an analog DJ setup with turntables and line sources, if you want to use an external effects path, separate master and submaster levels, and split or stereo pre-listening. The three program channels and two microphone inputs cover the source and microphone connections of the setup described.
