This is 1981 Inventions' low-gain distortion/preamp, redesigned by John Snyder of Electronic Audio Experiments. One box holds a distortion circuit and a preamp boost stage. Unlike most RAT-derived circuits it stays clear and articulate at low gain instead of turning to mush, then climbs into thick overdrive and near-fuzz territory as you push it, without losing note definition.

Great pedal if you want one box doing two jobs: tighten up your gain stage for rhythm work, or shove it into a thicker rock tone, without stacking pedals to get there.

Specs:

  • Power: standard 9V (Boss-style), circuit runs up to 18V for extra headroom
  • Finish: white
  • Hand-assembled in Nashville, TN
  • Condition: brand new
