The Roland EG-101 Groovekeyboard, released in 1998, is a 49-note touch-sensitive instrument built around dance and electronic music production. Its digital sound engine offers over 400 dance-oriented sounds alongside a built-in sampler with up to 32 seconds of sampling time, while 24-voice polyphony keeps complex arrangements clean. The Real-time Phrase Sequencer (RPS), 64 groove Styles spanning House, Techno, and Dance, and a full arpeggiator with adjustable range, grid, and decay make it a self-contained performance and songwriting tool. A standout feature is the D-Beam infrared controller, assignable to filter cutoff, resonance, tempo cut, or ad-lib playing for expressive hands-free control. Onboard reverb, ring modulation, and filter effects, twin 15W speakers, a mic input, stereo phono ins and outs, headphone output, and MIDI In/Out round out a surprisingly complete feature set for its era.
A great opportunity to own a Roland EG-101 at this price point.
