About this listing
Up for sale is this vintage circa 1960 Hofner Club 50 hollowbody electric guitar. This is a cool model with some cool features but, as with a lot of Hofner instruments, it is ready for a neck set and will require a bit of love before it's comfortably playable. With that out of the way, it's a prime candidate for the time and effort...This instrument is all original with the exception of the missing strap button on the heel, one side of the strip tuners, and a few of the tuner buttons. The original finish has aged beautifully showing a ton of attractive checking. There are some nicks, dings, scuffs, and scratches, the worst of which we have tried to capture in the photos. The area around the jack is stable but has some chipping where it has taken a few little thumps over the years. The original pickguard is intact but is started to off-gas, as can be seen by the oxidation on the bracket. The most serious cosmetic issue, in our opinion, is the area under the headstock overlay by the high-E tuner (pictured) which looks to have gotten a little moisture underneath at some point. Our tech wiped this one down and sprayed out the electronics to ensure that everything works as is should. The neck is straight, but the action is high with the bridge all the way down so this one will require a neck set unless you play on using it exclusively for slide but, with a no-issue neck (uncommon on Hofner instruments of this era), it's ready for a little TLC and could easily become a main guitar in someones arsenal.A modern padded gig bag is included and is in nice, but used, condition. The instrument will be well-packed inside and out to ensure safe shipping. Please be sure to check out our other listings for more great items!THE FINE PRINT: Most of our items are used/vintage.
