Black wrinkle finish

Heavy brass construction that distinguishes early STC units from later production. The substantial mass of the housing contributes to the microphone's exceptional mechanical stability and helps suppress unwanted resonances.

Alnico magnet, widely believed to be based on Alnico V formulations used in professional British ribbon microphones of the period.

As an additional historical note, this unit comes from EMI Odeon Argentina (1910–2013), the argentine subsidiary of EMI.

For decades, EMI Odeon studios were involved in the recording and production of countless landmark works of tango, folk music, and argentine popular rock music.

Many of the most influential artists passed through these studio, including Astor Piazzolla, Gardel, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Julio Sosa, Charly Garcia and numerous other performers.

EMI often sent equipment to its subsidiaries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America when upgrading equipment at Abbey Road studios.

So this mic may have more history behind.

Beyond its value as a recording tool, this particular microphone represents a genuine piece of audio history, connected both to the heritage of British engineering and to an important chapter in the history of Argentine recorded music.
