Overview: I've worked-on and sold a bunch of these '30s Oahu squarenecks in the past. I'm pretty sure this one was made by Kay for the Oahu brand but I am not 100% on that. Regal made very similar ones as well and my memory may be getting soft as the last one I had through here was probably almost 10 years ago, now. It's solid birch throughout the body, poplar in the neck, and features an aluminum, bolted-on bridge design (which I adore). It's on the more-beat side, condition-wise, but sounds and plays a treat. I currently have it strung with 12s and it's tuned to open E at the moment -- EBEG#BE low to high.

These have a sing-songy, bluesy, woody vibe to their tone that's just plain fun.

Repairs included: The last guy to work on it reset the neck, reglued and cleated some cracks, reglued some seams, and refit the bridge. I lubed the tuners, cleaned it up as much as possible, and filled the worn-in front deck of the bridge (someone had filed it down) and reprofiled it closer to how it was shaped originally so that the tone is clean and clear.

Condition notes: It has a bunch of scratches, scuffs, nicks, and dings. The finish shows plenty of distress, especially as it has very fine spray-paint patter here and there and everywhere (like it was in a room where someone was spraying something). There are a few repaired hairline cracks on the top and back (smaller). The bridge top has been filled/reprofiled to address old wear and tear/modification. It's otherwise original throughout.

It comes with: No case, sorry.
