Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Super Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch and a padded slip cover. A unique Super Reverb with a story to tell, this amp was owned by Robin Pecknold and featured heavily on the first Fleet Foxes album before being acquired by Phil Ek (who produced Fleet Foxes' eponymous debut). Since 2008, Ek has used this Super Reverb on (by his accounting and loosely speaking) "100 records." One of a select few amps in Ek's collection, his producing credits include Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, The Shins, Band of Horses, The Walkmen, and many others. Was this amp featured on many of your favorite records? Yes indeed.

The Super Reverb pushes 40 watts of pure Fender Black Panel clean tone via a pair of JAN/Phillips small bottle 6L6WGB power tubes. Perfect for gigging situations and an ideal recording amplifier, the amp provides pristine, muscly Fender cleans until the 4-5 range on the volume dial, where a bit of tube and speaker breakup sends the amp into smooth overdrive. The Reverb is lush and deep, and the Tremolo has a nice pulse, with everything from swampy and slow to choppy rat-a-tat pulses.

All of the original transformers are intact, manufactured by Schumacher (Fender's primary transformer supplier in the Black Panel era), with date codes from the 26th and 27th weeks of '67. The preamp features the majority of the original blue Ajax molded capacitors, a central element of the sweet, musical character of Fender's Black Panel-era circuits, along with a few modern Sprague Orange Drops. All but two of the original CTS and Stackpole pots are intact, with visible date codes from '66. The power cable has been upgraded to a modern three-prong, and the power supply features modern high quality caps from Sprague and F&T. The preamp also features modern electrolytic caps, ensuring optimal performance.

The quartet of original CTS-made speakers are intact with alnico magnets, clean frames, and Fender foil stickers on the magnet bells. Two of the speakers have been professionally reconed. There is no tube chart inside the cabinet, and no evidence of one being installed (while not the norm, this is also not without precedent for Black Panel amps).

The original smooth black tolex is intact and very well kept, as is the original silver sparkle grillcloth. Original hardware includes the nickel corners, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, and raised "Fender" logo. The tilt-back legs also have bright chrome plating.

The original two-button footswitch is included, along with a modern padded slip cover.
