This Ibanez JPM100P3 was personally owned and used by John Petrucci during the Falling Into Infinity era and was sold directly by John and Rena Petrucci in 1999.
On 11 November 1999, John personally handed the guitar to me backstage before Dream Theater's concert at the IJsselhallen in Zwolle, The Netherlands.
The complete provenance is documented through the original correspondence, photographs and supporting material that have remained together ever since.
The Ibanez JPM100P3 was one of the original finishes in John Petrucci's first Ibanez signature series and, with its F97 serial number, is one of the earliest known JPM100P3 guitars produced.

This guitar was used by John throughout the Falling Into Infinity era with Dream Theater and can still be seen in a number of live photographs, promotional images and concert footage from that period. In fact I saw John playing it live at the old 'Noorderligt' venue in Tilburg (NL) in 1997. Also on YouTube there are videos where John is playing the guitar live, like for instance these:
Dream Theater - Live in Bonn, Germany 1997
Dream Theater - Live at Irving Plaza, NY 1997
This guitar was used extensively during the Falling Into Infinity period and tour before Petrucci's move to Music Man. When he transitioned to Music Man, he offered five of his personally owned Ibanez guitars for sale through his official website, then managed by his wife, Rena Petrucci-Sands. This guitar is one of those five. I purchased it directly from Rena and collected it from John personally at the IJsselhallen in Zwolle, The Netherlands, on 11 November 1999 (see photographs). I'm currently compiling a comprehensive provenance book based on the original correspondence, photographs and documentation that have accompanied this guitar since 1999. Additional documentation can be shared with serious prospective buyers upon request.
For me, this represents the very best kind of provenance. This guitar was one of John's principal stage instruments during approximately the 1997–1999 period. No "hearsay", no "this might have been owned by", no "a guitar played once, then signed and given away" – not that there’s anything wrong with that, but ...still, this is the real deal.
For more than twenty-five years I have carefully preserved every email, photograph and document relating to this guitar. What began as a personal memory gradually evolved into a carefully documented provenance archive.
Considering the package it comes with:
· The guitar's back plate signed by John Petrucci on 6 November 1999, just days before he personally handed the guitar over to me during Dream Theater's Metropolis 2000 Tour.
· Backstage pass from the Metropolis 2000 Tour with my name on it.
· Original 1999 email correspondence with Rena Petrucci available and partially shown in listing. Full documentation can be shared with serious buyers.
· John's original DiMarzio guitar strap, used by him while touring with this guitar, as can be seen in the available live footage.
· The original OHSC with handwritten label (‘TM100C’), likely used for identification during Petrucci’s ownership/touring period.
Guitar is in full working condition and what you see is what you get – prime example of progressive metal’s history.
Shipping is possible worldwide.
However, having received this guitar personally from John Petrucci in 1999, I can't help but feel that meeting its next owner in person would be a fitting continuation of its story.
