The Yamaha SG-800, like the Yamaha SG-700, is a brother of the now very well renowned and famous Yamaha SG-2000, SG-1000, and the lesser known Yamaha SG-1500. All top class vintage instruments and getting increasingly harder to find.
The SG-800 was introduced as the follow up from the SG-700 and was produced from 1979-1981. Like its heavier predecessor it has excellent playability and low action with great tonal range, due to Coil Tapping options.

  • Body- Nato body, maple top.
  • Neck- One piece mahogany bound set neck, rosewood fretboard
  • Hardware- Chrome, plain stoptail
  • Pickups - Two high output humbucker pickups
  • Colour - Walnut
  • Tuning pegs- Chrome, Tulip shaped buttons
  • Pickup surrounds- Cream
  • Single ply cream pickguard
  • Coil taps came as standard, Yamaha started to call this the BI Sound System
