The NOALA is a gain-controlling amplifier designed for installed sound system use. It has inputs for music and page (microphone) and a noise sense input to adjust sound levels according to ambient noise levels. All inputs & outputs are transformer-balanced
This would be a great basis for a custom compressor – it has four front-panel pots, two banks of three pushbutton switches and a huge Altec-logo’d VU meter. Internally it has multiple audio transformers, a switchable-voltage (110/220V) power supply and plenty of room for circuit boards & other hardware
Very suitable for conversion into a compressor, for harvesting parts or for other projects. The NOALA has:
- two input transformers (Altec 15443)
- one output transformer (Altec 15444)
- large VU meter
- opto gain reduction circuit
- sidechain circuit
- all-discrete, Class A circuitry
- 2U rack case
- 110 / 220 V power supply
