Vintage 1930's Regal Le Domino "Big Boy" Accoustic Guitar -Rare
This 1930's Regal Le Domino " Big Boy" was manufactured in Chicago when Regal took over the Le Domino brand. Regal made these guitars with solid spruce tops, birch backs and maple fret boards that were dyed black.
It seems to be all original from the tuning pegs to the tailpiece, bridge and pickguard, except the fingerboard inlays.
The inscriptions on the headstock and the dominoes around the sound hole and above the bridge are in very good condition. It also has a beautiful pearloid dominoes on the fingerboard that may have been added later as the replacement for dominoes stickers. Other than that we can confirm the guitar is 100% original.
This guitar has minor overall wear and including some more wear on the back of V-shaped neck as shown in the pictures. Overall in very good condition with some dings and scratches all over the body and neck. The neck is straight, no buzzing, low action. It has a wide nut (1 7/8″) and it's very comfortable to play.
This vintage beauty is not only a rare & cool collectible item, but a really great sounding player. It sounds like a bell! Loud and articulate, with surprisingly wide range with slight domination of mid tones. These Depression era guitars are becoming quite desirable, and with the Domino decals and dark sunburst finish, this is a real head turner. Incredibly balanced, honky, gutsy mid-range tone, makes an excellent fingerpicking blues guitar.
The guitar comes with a soft-shell case.
