The Finn Alexi Laiho is a founding member of the band "Children of Bodom". In 1997 the band received a record contract and recorded their debut album "Something Wild". The band name goes back to a murder case at the Finnish lake Bodominjärvi. On June 5, 1960, a group of four teenagers who were camping there were victims of a violent act, with three dead. Musically, this band is difficult to classify into the established style system. Characteristic are fast runs in lead guitar and keyboard, short melodic arcs and guttural singing. The frequent change of melodic and atonal elements creates a broad contrast. The band is not directly linked to a special metal subculture, which is why the style-affiliation remains controversial.
