Gretsch 22/12/13/16" 70's Stop Sign Badge Drum Set - Black Mirror Chrome

Here's a nice set of 70's Gretsch Stop Sign Badge era drums, finished in rare Black Chrome wrap! These are sized 14x22", 8x12", 9x13", and 16x16". There are some cosmetic blemishes and scratches here and there throughout the surface of this wrap - mirrored metal finishes picked these up easily compared with more common nitron wraps that did a better job disguising wear. Still, they absolutely have some room to polish up if desired. A thoughtful clean-up would have these looking near new from an audience perspective. The neoprene ball bearings in the original double tom mount have some wear to them, and therefore take a little bit more force to adjust. On the plus side, this allows the tightening tension rods to bite into them harder - see Steve's notes.

Steve’s notes: Unique, rare and reflective set of 70s SSB drums here. This set comes with the correct, original double tom mount. This ball-in-socket design was an improvement from the early version double tom mount in terms of flexibility of placement for the toms, and also utilized drum key adjustment for securing the height and angle. (Let’s face it, everyone was trying to capture what Rogers did so beautifully with the original ball-in-socket “swivomatic” design). Gretsch did a decent job on this, but the design wasn’t super easy to use and the drum key is a bit of a tight fit when adjusting. Works just fine, and I don’t mind it because I grew up with this design, but many people will opt for using suspension mounts for the 12 and 13 anyhow. Tone controls top and bottom for the toms and on the batter side for the bass drum, all as per factory specs.
