The Oberheim Matrix 1000 is a compact, 1U analog rack synth module that packs 1,000 Matrix 6 patches into a MIDI-controlled format. It shares the same architecture as the Matrix 6, offering six voices, each with two DCOs a low-pass filter, dual VCAs, three envelope generators, two LFOs, and two ramp generators.
While the sound palette is rich and versatile, editing parameters directly on the unit isn’t possible: you’ll need an external MIDI editor (like MOTU Unisyn or the Access Matrix Programmer) to tweak sounds. Patches can also be loaded via SysEx from a Matrix 6 or compatible software.
The Matrix 1000 delivers lush pads, ambient textures, and complex tones. It includes a wide range of preset categories: 195 keyboard sounds, 118 string patches, 130 woodwind and percussion voices, 239 synthesizer presets, 119 basses, 74 leads, and 125 effects.
