Along with the the first commercial solidbody guitar, Fender also introduced the first commercial solidbody electric bass in 1951 - the Precision Bass. Despite not being quick to on the uptake for double-bass players, the P-Bass offered a much more friendlier gateway for guitarists to pick up and, influenced by the success of Rock and Motown, went on to become what is described as "the one technological breakthrough that changed music forever".
This American Vintage II Precision Bass takes things right back to the start, before the P-Bass that most people think of today. The Tele-style headstock, the non-split single-coil pickup, and the more forward pickguard are all features that make this bass a glimpse into the past. With a more rounded fingerboard radius, Nitro gloss finish, and 1951 "U" profile neck, it has that authentic vintage feel.
