Greetings and thank you for your interest in this listing for an ultra-rare Vintage Fender USA "Red Bottom" staggered pole pickups set !

A lot of sellers claim their items are "rare" - but these pickups were only made by Fender in 1982 for a few models, so they are TRULY rare.

Something worth mentioning: the "Red Bobbins" came in three different versions:

-      “Vintage with staggered poles which went into the first Fullerton Strat reissues (up for sale here);

-      the non-staggered poles version (Bullet Series, Japanese JV);

-      the 1982 Smith Strat version (non-staggered poles with a red bobbin X1 pickup in the bridge spot).

Needless to say, all versions are hard to find, and seldom seen for sale.

Besides the magnet poles, the only difference I know of between these pickups and the Fullerton Reissue versions is that the Fullertones have a darker winding and a slightly different top. Resistance measurements and sound characteristics are similar between all versions, except for the hotter X1 pickup.”

This pickup set has been in one of my many drawers for I don't know how many years since. Now it is fair for them to find their rightful place in the Stratocaster they deserve.

If your 1982 Fender “First Year” reissue is missing it’s original pickups, you already know that it’s worth about twenty hundred bucks less than it would be. And prices are set to rise very quickly…

I‘m aware these pickups are expensive but they are a valuable investment and a necessity for an all original first year 57 Strat reissue and you cannot get these, but by parting a $6500 + First Year Fender 1957 Reissue Stratocaster.

All three dated 1982.

- Red fiber bobbin on each pickup;

- White fiber top on each pickup;

- Alnico Magnets Staggered pole;

- Original copper windings and leads;

- Original poly wires;

- Neck pickup resistance measures 5.81 Kohms;

- Mid pickup resistance measures 5.84 Kohms;

- Bridge pickup resistance measures 7.30 Kohms;

- Made at Fender in Fullerton CA in 1982
