100-watt “Plexi” Reissues: Then & NowReissue #1: The 1959SLP
Due to an ever-growing interest in amps of yesteryear, Marshall decided to offer a reissue of the 1959 “Plexi” in 1993, following a disappointing public reaction to a reissue of a circa-1973 Super Lead with an aluminum panel in 1988. The 1993 reissue was named the 1959SLP and was based on a late-1968/early-1969 model. Unlike the original though, the reissue wasn’t handwired; it boasted PCBs. It was well received though and stayed in the line for the best part of a decade.
This one have been modded with a 2 channel switching system, additonal pre-amp and a active loop system, by SKRYDSTRUP R&D, as later seen in their own OD50 and other amps.
Skrydstrup R&D was a Danish High End Custom builder of Pedals, Amps and Racks for some of the biggest artist of this planet including guitarists like The Edge, David Gilmour, Mathias Jabs, Rudolf Schenker, Steve Morse, Matt Belamy & Chris Wolstenholme (Muse), Richard Kruspe & Paul Landers (Rammstein), and many others.
The company is now closed and Steen Skrydstrup is trading with a new company called Caveman Audio.

The SKRYDSTRUP R&D amps are top class hand built amps, and sounds incredible.
Combine this with the raw power of a Marshall 1959 from 1968-1969, and you have this Hi Gain amp, with a warm punchy sound of a hard driven Marshall Plexi and that extra input gain known from hi gain amps such as the original Soldano SLO100.
At the same time the beast is able to be used in environments where you need to turn the volume down a bit, due to the active effects loop.
Channel switching make this amp more versatile, than a standard Marshall head.
The two Volume Controls are a little noisy, due to a longer time without using it, but a good massage should clear that easily.
