Up for sale, a 2017 Fender American Elite Jazz Bass V in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags and hardshell case. Finished in custom color Champagne (curiously virtually identical to Shoreline Gold), this rare iteration of Fender's premier modern 5 string Jazz Bass features a pair of Fender's 4th generation Noiseless pickups coupled with active electronics. The tone wood combination of an alder body and maple neck ensures an even and articulate set of tonalities, and the HiMass bridge and string through body construction delivers ample sustain, and thick, muscly low end presence. The pickups are designed to offer the tonal profile of Fender's Jazz Bass pickups of yesteryear, yet without the hum typically associated with single coil pickups. And with a discreet mini toggle on the control plate, it's easy to toggle between passive and active modes. The bass weighs 10lbs on the dot and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 45-125 roundwound strings, comfortable action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a slender and fast-feeling C shaped profile at the nut that transitions subtly into more of a D shape higher up the fretboard, offering a compound 9.5-14" fretboard radius and medium jumbo fretwire. The satin finish on the profile is smooth to the palm, and the maple fretboard boasts both black binding and black pearl block inlay. The frets have their full factory height, showing just a touch of wear on the crowns of frets 1-5, with virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The nut measures 1 7/8" in width, and the headstock is fitted with chrome tuning machines that are lightweight enough to avoid any perceptible neck dive. The substantial five-bolt neck heel is also shaped to allow easy access to the highest frets.
The electronics all work as intended, with a three-band active EQ circuit, along with more conventional Volume knobs for each pickup and a two-way mini toggle to switch between passive and active modes. In terms of cosmetic wear, there is virtually none to report aside from light wear on the silkscreened text on the pickup covers. There's barely a scratch on the gloss custom color Champagne finish, which is a very pale shade of gold not dissimilar from Shoreline Gold.
The original molded Fender hardshell case is included, along with the original hangtags.
