At Tonal Tubes we test preamp tubes using an instrument that allows us to test tubes for gain, transconductance, and noise, at real world voltages that would be seen in a guitar amp or hifi amp. We test every single tube that we receive to make sure it matches our standards. All tubes are also checked for shorts and leakage on a separate tube tester to ensure that all tubes will work flawlessly in your equipment.
Both the gain (μ) and transconductance (gm) will be written on each and every tube box so you know exactly what you are getting.
***A tube qualifies as being "balanced" when each side of the triode differs less than 3% both gain and transconductance. Having a balanced tube in the phase inverter position can be great for tone.***
