Pedal Freaks makes dozens of great DIY kits including several noise generators like this one but you probably can't find them unless you take a trip to Akihabara, Tokyo. This fuzz/noise effect completely scrambles the pitch of the original signal with an 8-bit voice modulator IC (HT8950) to produce robot-like noise and lo-fi effects. Combinations of three toggle switches select various modes:
- 8-bit fuzz
- Octave down
- Octave up
- Octave up and pitch shift
- Pitch-shift noise
- Random-arpeggiator noise
