Fluid Audio FX80

Fluid Audio presents the FX80, a further development of the successful FX8. Feedback from professional users has been taken on board and improvements have been made across the board. A 1.2-inch silk dome tweeter is positioned in the centre of the 8-inch woofer. This design, unique in this price segment, creates a point source – which, by its very nature, eliminates disruptive phase deviations or interference between the individual drivers. The FX80’s frequency response ranges from 35 Hz to 22 kHz.

Integrated 8-position DIP switch for EQ/room correction

In many (home) studios, space is rather limited, which can have a detrimental effect on the acoustics. The FX80 is therefore equipped with EQ switches that allow you to manage both the influence of acoustically challenging rooms and the resonances from a wall directly behind the speakers. On the rear panel, users will find key information on how the DIP switches work, whilst the user manual describes their functions in detail.

Class D and DSP-controlled

The FX80’s ‘Class D’ power amplifier consistently delivers cleaner, more stable power and ample headroom. The integrated high-performance DSP manages the digitally controlled crossover, resulting in exceptionally consistent sound reproduction. This makes the FX series reference monitors the perfect solution for demanding home and professional recording studios.

LED indicator on the front baffle

The LED on the front panel not only indicates the FX monitor’s On/Off/Bypass status, but also assists with the precise alignment of the speakers at ear level.

Front-firing slot port design

The bass reflex port ensures maximum bass efficiency from the speaker. The front-facing arrangement not only delivers bass energy more directly to the listener but also allows for placement close to a wall, making the monitor considerably more flexible when it comes to positioning options in the studio.

Optimised tweeter protection

The coaxial design, with the tweeter centrally suspended in front of the woofer, makes the FX80 an extremely robust unit. The woofer is therefore already equipped with a ‘protective shield’. However, as the tweeter also needs protection, it features a small perforated grille in front of the sensitive silk diaphragm.

Image and depth rendering

High-quality drivers in a solid enclosure form the basis for transparent reference monitors, but it is only through extensive listening tests and meticulous calibration of the crossover that this monitor becomes a reliable tool with absolutely precise depth gradation – and thus a genuine Fluid Audio Box. A mix created on the FX80 will never disappoint, even when played back on other audio systems.
