Gibson Custom Shop / Murphy Lab HATA MOTOHIRO J-45

"I want to use the same guitar as Motohiro Hata!" "I want a vintage guitar! But vintage guitars are expensive..."
This instrument is a limited edition of 100 Murphy Lab HATA MOTOHIRO J-45, a reproduction of the 1966 Gibson J-45 actually owned by Motohiro Hata, produced by Murphy Lab, led by Gibson Custom Shop Master Artisan Tom Murphy.

Faded Color and Thermally Aged Finish
The top is made of Sitka spruce, and the spruce has been treated with a thermally aged finish to reproduce the crisp yet deep tone of a guitar that has been played for many years.
The light aging process enhances the weather checking, giving it a sophisticated look.

Side/Back
Made of mahogany, finished in light walnut color, then aged and weather-checked.

Fingerboard
Made of rosewood, it features mother-of-pearl dot position markers.

Neck
The mahogany neck, like the body, features weather checking.
The neck grip has a thicker shape compared to the 1966 vintage model.
This is not simply a reproduction, but a part that reflects the requests unique to Motohiro Hata's signature model.

Bridge
The upper belly bridge features slotted saddles (fixed saddles) and white bridge pins.
While the 1966 J-45 had an adjustable bridge that allowed for raising and lowering the string height, the 1966 J-45 owned by Motohiro Hata has been modified with slotted saddles, which have been incorporated into this instrument as well.

Headstock
The slim headstock features Gibson's modern logo and a one-piece truss rod cover.
While the Gibson "G" font is modern, a subtle detail is the aged finish on the Phillips head screw securing the truss rod cover.

Tuning Machines
The tuners are KLUSON 3-in-line pegs, and both the casing and screws have been aged.

Pickups
This unit comes standard with an L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup.

Enjoy a three-dimensional sound in live performances and recordings by blending the piezo and microphone.

[Comment from the person in charge: Hoshino]
Rather than a simple reproduction of the 1966 J-45, this guitar harmonizes Motohiro Hata's meticulous attention to detail (neck shape and pickups) with the 1966 J-45.
The weather checking and aged finish on the parts are truly characteristic of Tom Murphy's work.
