Here’s a cool take on a classic offset. The Fender Ben Gibbard Mustang is based on the modified Mustangs that Ben Gibbard has used on tour for years, but with a few smart modern tweaks that make it a really practical stage guitar.
It features a chambered ash body, which keeps the weight down and adds a bit more resonance than a typical solid Mustang. The short 24” scale maple neck makes it super comfortable to play, and the pair of custom Ben Gibbard single-coil pickups deliver that clear, jangly Mustang tone.
The controls are intentionally simple — just a master volume and a 3-way rotary pickup selector, so it’s quick to dial in and easy to use on stage. What looks like a traditional Mustang tremolo is actually a locked hardtail-style setup, giving it great tuning stability and sustain.
This example is in excellent condition and has been well looked after.
A great option if you want a Mustang with classic offset character but a slightly more modern, no-nonsense design.
