We’ve sold all our ex Demo and 2nd hand amps and can now only supply new cornell Romany 12s.
We can supply the full Cornell product range, just get in touch with the shop to discuss your needs. We won’t be beaten by any other new online price.
This listing is for a new unopened Romany 12, we've just left our Demo amp pics up for reference.
The Romany 12 in our opinion is the jewel in the crown of small combos.
An absolute tone monster, if you’re able to try one of these little amps cranked onto the overdrive setting, just give up and reach for your wallet.
Resistance is futile.
The 12 is in our opinion so much more open than the 10, it just moves more air and gives a bigger bass response.
It’s also got the reverb and sounds huge.
The 10 is superb if you’re struggling with volume for the neighbours, or you want to have the no compromise tweed lighter Jensen 10 setup, creamier cutting Midds with a faster speaker breakup and snapper response, but you sacrifice the bass and stomach punch from the 12. If you have a little more space the 12 is in our humble opinion the one to go for.
The last point is the EQ bypass, we’ve messed with this amp a lot, and 90% of the time we always come back to just turning the EQ off and letting the amp work as Denis intended.
Just control the whole setup off the volume and attenuator settings.
The volume knob acts more like a gain from above the 1/2 to 3/4 Setting. The amp won’t really change volume but you can play with the saturation and overall tone just in the volume control.
A very simple and effective old school setup.
But one we love!
It works great with an A/B peddle to jump between HI & Low inputs.
A fantastic amount of versatility between those two settings.
Honestly one of the most musical and enjoyable amps we have. We play and stock amps at twice the price and the cornell holds its own in the Tone stakes.
We can also get them in on a short lead time, as they’re built in the good old U.K.
Up yours Trump!
Now the normal blurb.
The Romany was re-designed in 2016 and gets back to the roots of classic American amplifier design much favoured by many legendary Blues players or anyone seeking that classic overdriven sound.
Originally designed for studio or home use, but easily loud enough to play small gigs when mic’d up.
If you only buy one amp, make sure it’s this one.
At a very loud 10 watts, the amp is huge on tone with switched output reduction circuitry between 10 watts – 0.05 watts – in other words, you won’t fall out with your neighbours if the amp is used at home. Also features EQ switching in or out of the signal path.
So can be set as the amp was designed with the flick of one switch to a heavily altered EQ, in the right hands it’s almost like a different Chanel. Adjusting the EQ provides a variable tone from clean to overdriven.
Using an external AB peddle also expands flexibility, allowing jumping between the two inputs, the sound between the channels is drastically different and give great tonal contrast.
Hi & Lo inputs, Bass, Middle & Treble control, EQ cut, Accutronics long spring reverb tank. Single-ended class-A cathode bias. 2 x ECC83, 1 x ECC81, 1 x 6L6GT. 12” Jensen speaker. Classic looks with quality lacquered tweed covering, leather handle, chicken head knobs. Weighs a manageable 29 lbs / 13 Kg,
530 x 430 x 230 mm
Hand-built in Southend, UK.
Artists who have used Cornell include Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Hank Marvin, Wilko Johnson, Andy Fairweather Low & Robin Trower, to name a few.
