German master-built cello – Markneukirchen ca. 1880-1890 An excellent cello from the late 19th century, built in Markneukirchen – at that time one of Europe's most important centers for string instrument building. The builder is not specified, but the craftsmanship and sound leave no doubt that the instrument comes from one of the great masters in the area. The cello is distinguished by its beautiful craftsmanship, warm depth in the bass, a singing midrange and a clear, projecting treble.
