The K.O.D.A is a completely new development and is not based on any existing circuits. The concept consists of a circuit that combines a studio-quality transistor preamp with a switchable output stage. When the output stage is activated, the pedal behaves similarly to a turned-up guitar amp, offering the guitarist a touch response and playing feel that closely resembles that of a good tube amp.

Komet amplifiers are known for being incredibly easy to control from the guitar. From clean to distorted, everything can be controlled via the attack and the guitar volume. This gives the guitarist the feeling of being directly connected to the amp. The Komet K.O.D.A. pedal brings this magic to the world of pedals, as there is nothing else like it on the market.

The K.O.D.A. is extremely versatile, allowing the guitarist to manipulate the gain structure at different points in the signal path. This produces a massive, sustain-rich sound that can also be fine-tuned with extreme precision. The ‘Drive’ knob determines how hard the guitar signal hits the preamp of the K.O.D.A. The ‘Gain’ knob determines the harmonic distortion in the preamp. When the ‘Output Stage’ is switched on, “Level” controls how hard the output stage is driven. Finally, ‘Volume’ controls the output level of the K.O.D.A. and thus how hard the guitar amp itself is driven.

In addition, there is active tone control with ‘Treble’ and “Bass” controls that can not only cut frequencies but also boost them. A ‘Hi-Cut’ switch completes the tonal tuning by allowing the treble content to be adjusted to the amplifier.

With such detailed access to the gain structure of the K.O.D.A., it is possible to set the pedal for everything from a fat, clear clean boost to a singing high-gain overdrive and combine it with virtually any amp.
