Logic-assisted gate with automatic Easyrider compression
The Aphex Model 240 combines elements of Aphex’s famous Logic Assisted Gate (as found in the Aphex Models 230 and 622) with those of the automatic Easyrider compressor models.

Incredibly stable gate operation
Logic Assisted Gate technology offers the most reliable, accurate and stable operation of any gate. The patented circuitry is designed so that it never triggers incorrectly, clicks or rattles. Once the gate is triggered, even by a microscopic transient, it runs through its attack, hold and release sequence.
Logic Assisted Gate and Easyrider work in tandem
Unlike most combined gate/compressor units, the Model 240 is designed so that both technologies operate as a seamlessly integrated system. When the logic-assisted gate is activated, the Easyrider compressor is prevented from engaging. This avoids the conflict where the compressor attempts to boost the signal level whilst the gate attempts to reduce it. The gain reduction is ‘frozen’ until the gate reopens.
Drive, Speed and Output controls and independent or stereo operation
The controls in the gating section of the Model 240 include Threshold, Attack, Hold, Release and Depth. The controls in the compressor section of the Model 240 include Drive, Speed (the compressor’s base release rate) and Output. Each channel of the Model 240 can be used independently, or the two channels can be linked for stereo processing. A multi-coloured LED bar display on the front panel indicates either the peak output level or the gain reduction.
