Here’s a cool golden era 1964 J-50 – not something we see too often!
Introduced in the early 1940s, the Gibson J-50 quickly became a favorite among folk, country, and rock musicians alike. Renowned artists such as Bob Dylan, John Lennon, and Bruce Springsteen have all used the J-50, cementing its status as a timeless Gibson classic.
This particular 1964 Gibson J-50 ADJ has a lot going for it. Being a ’64, it retains the wide nut, and still has it’s original adjustable bridge and original tuners, both of which work well. Importantly it also has a healthy neck angle so plays well and is ready to go.
Of course it’s got a few stories to tell as well, most notably a couple of repaired cracks in the top, one in the back, and one on the treble side of the headstock. All professionally done, and totally stable. The pickguard is original and has shrunk a bit over time, as is very common on these.
Includes old and very worn, possibly not original, case.
